What is SWAT 4: Gold Edition about?
When the game begins, players are seen going through training sessions at the Riverside Training Institute, under the guidance of Lieutenant Officer Sonny Bonds. In this training, players are taught how to fire a wide variety of weapons, clear rooms, escape stealthily, command their element and master the art of using snipers. Thus, players are posted to various locations of the globe to experience reality and face hostage situations, run operations, and fight against enemies.
Gameplay
The game continually highlights the need to resort to lethal force only when required. Players have to follow the rules of Engagement while commanding their elements. SWAT is a training organisation, which focuses on training people so that they can protect themselves in dire conditions. Thus, this organisation doesn’t worship the use of lethal force. Players, while leading missions, cannot pose to be a threat to people in the nearby vicinity. Hence, they shouldn’t ever resort to lethal means, otherwise, they would be penalised severely. The performance score given to every player depends on the RoE. Several factors influence this score like the number of suspects arrested by a player, the authenticity of evidence collected, casualties, etc. The game allows players to use a variety of weapons as they like. There are lethal weapons like M4AI, Colt Carbine, etc. To less dangerous ones like Shotguns, Pepper Ball guns, etc. Developers have also included different kinds of armours like gas masks, keeping in mind the safety of players. They can use them during operations. Other equipment like door wedges, Optiwand are also available. Suspects can be professionally trained gangsters to ill-equipped, poorly organised people. Hence, you must be careful, if you intend to arrest any suspect. After leading every mission successfully, new weapons will be unlocked that can be used in the next missions. Players will have to listen for commands before taking any step. For instance, even if a suspect surrenders, players will take them to custody only after getting the restraining orders.
